My Creative Space...

I love this time of year in Vermont--the most intense hues of green are everywhere you look: the grass, the mountains, the new leaves on the trees...
as summer comes, the colors deepen, but right now everything is in shades of peridot...
These earrings that I've been working on today for my Etsy shop are definitely inspired by the lush, verdant greens outside my windows!

Today I've also been creating some sketches for upcoming custom orders...
The one on the left is for a sweet friend who is getting married next year--I'm so excited to make a jewelry set for her :) Other than that, I'm enjoying a tiny lull period while I await a shipment of thread from the U.K...

Bohemian Monday...{Crimson}

This week's finds from the Bohemian Embellishment Flickr Group feature intense shades of paprika and cumin to spice up your Monday :)
Hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! Thank you for all of your lovely comments on my previous post about the recent jewelry projects and my little interview--it means a lot! I will be back on Wednesday with a little sneak peek of what I'm working on this week. Until then...
xo,

Week 16-Labradorite Vine Necklace

I've had this gorgeous labradorite pendant that I got from Szarka at Magpie Gemstones for a while waiting for a project to come to mind. This labradorite has tons of blue chatoyancy so I combined it with apatite rondelle beads and little green amethyst faceted rounds. I struggled with attaching the coiled vine and I'm not 100% happy with the way the wrap wires are showing but maybe I can talk myself into believing that it adds an organic element to the necklace.

Fairy Tale Friday...

Where has the time gone? The past few weeks have gone by in a blur! April is traditionally a busy month for me, as summer brides prepare for their weddings, and this April has been especially so---I've been working straight through on custom orders since I last posted.

I'll share some pics of what I've been working on but first, here are some lovely Fairy Tale Friday finds from the Fairy Tale ornament flickr group...
I'm loving the muted sepia tones of these lovely photos--both ethereal and moody and mysterious!

And a few photos of what I've been working on the past week or so...
a custom parure {or matching set of jewelry} for a lovely bride in the U.K.
including earrings...
and a dainty bracelet in a new style...
and this elaborate brooch, which I've mentioned in a few previous blog posts!
I've also created a custom pair of earrings similar to these...
And I also have quite a few custom orders in the works that I haven't finished up yet, as well as some designs incorporating some wonderful new threads.
A little sneak peek below...
I'll be sharing more information about these new designs in the upcoming weeks, so stay tuned!

And this week I also had the pleasure of being interviewed about my work by a fellow jewelry designer , Troy Hawkins of Cerulean Gypsy. You can read the whole interview here {there is a whole section about the custom project that I did for Courtney Love last year, which I realized I never posted about on my own blog, so you can get the scoop in the interview!}

And thank you to everyone who left such lovely comments on my last post about the Violaine necklace .
Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend!

Week 15-Surprise-More Earrings

Since I'm already overrun with earrings, I naturally decided to make more. My friend, Deborah Gray-Wurz, procured some gorgeous pyrite briolettes for me and I used them in the first pair of earrings. I also added gems in shades of purple and violet including tanzanite, amethyst and iolite.

The second pair is olive jade with cascades of green vessuvianite, blue aquamarine and some some keishi pearls thrown into the mix.

Etsy Treasury by Shay Stone

Shay Stone put together this fabulous Treasury on Etsy. In case you're not familiar, treasuries are curated galleries handpicked by members of the Etsy community. I love the title Shay gave this one "Amazons-Woman Wire Warriors!" I'm a big fan of all of these artists so I'm very flattered to be included in such good company. Check them out here before the treasury expires.

Week 14-Silver and Crazy Lace Necklace

Lately rice-shaped beads have really been appealing to me. I don't usually wear pink but I bought a really cute dark pink top from Anthropologie and it really needed something bold to fill in the neckline. These beads are from Limabeads and they're dyed crazy lace agate. The shape of the links was inspired by a reproduction of an antique necklace that I saw in a museum catalog once upon a time. I made the headpins by hammering the ends of 22 gauge wire.

And apologize for not blogging more frequently this week--on Monday I was thrilled to discover that my Lucienne Earrings were featured in an Etsy Storque article! The response has been really wonderful, and I've been packing up orders all week and working on some new custom requests, as well as trying to restock the empty shelves in my Etsy Shop...
I did finish up this sumptuous design that I wanted to share with you..
This piece has a very Gothic revival feel to it, with its pointed shapes and use of pearls and luscious AAA amethyst stones--I was going for something that looked both Victorian and Medieval at the same time....
Matching earrings are also available...

I don't typically do matched sets, but I had some beautiful pink amethyst briolettes that were just calling to me as earrings...

Hope everyone has a wonderful weekend! I'll be back on Monday with some Bohemian Monday finds :)

I Had Company Today

I had a class at my house this afternoon and, fortunately, as I have a houseful of dogs, all the gals are animal lovers. But Yvonne is also involved with wildlife rescue and she brought along these two adorable orphaned baby squirrels. They're four weeks old and still on formula so they had a feeding while they were here. The rest of the time they love to snuggle in their blanket or in the palm of your hand. I want one although I would probably have a hard time releasing it back into the wild.
